Music video and movie poster creative direction for post-rock pioneers, Caspian .

Caspian is a post-rock band from Beverly, MA.  Spin Magazine called their previous release the “best rock rock album of the year” so expectations were high for the follow up album. The goal was to create a music video for the new single ‘Sad Heart of Mine’ that reflected the band’s sprawling cinematic sound without a feature film budget.

The initial solution was to license stock footage to create a world as big as the band’s sound.  When costs spiraled we explored purchasing reels of home movies from Ebay.

After reading descriptions of the home videos we pulled the trigger and purchased 500 hours of 8mm and 16mm footage. The risk paid off and the finished video was accepted into various national and international film festivals plus numerous digital features.

The 16mm and 8mm footage was so beautiful the actual film was scanned and used in the design of the supporting film poster.
